Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to Pulsar

Why connect Bing in 2026

In 2026, Bing powers ChatGPT browsing (OpenAI-Microsoft partnership). Being well-indexed in Bing directly improves your visibility in ChatGPT. Plus the free Bing Keyword Research (vs Google Keyword Planner which requires an Ads account).

API permissions: read-only via a dedicated API key. Pulsar reads impressions, clicks, average position, top queries, top pages.

The 4 steps

1. Create the Bing WMT account

If not already done: bing.com/webmasters > Sign in (Microsoft account) > Add a site > validation (DNS or meta tag).

2. Generate the API key

On bing.com/webmasters > Settings > API Access > Generate API key. Copy the key.

3. Enter in Pulsar

Settings > Connected sources > Bing Webmaster Tools > Paste the API key + exact site URL.

4. First synchronisation

Pulsar retrieves 6 months of history (Bing API limit). Sync 2-5 minutes.

Common errors

  • Invalid API keyThe key must be copied in full without spaces. Regenerate if needed on bing.com/webmasters > Settings > API Access.
  • URL mismatchThe URL must EXACTLY match the one added on Bing WMT (with or without www, http/https). Check the list of registered sites on bing.com/webmasters.
  • No data for the first 7 daysBing takes 5-10 days to index a new site. Be patient.

Does Bing WMT replace Google Search Console?
No, it is complementary. GSC = Google data (78% of the market), Bing WMT = Bing data (4-5% + ChatGPT feed). Ideally both connected.
Does the Bing API key expire?
No, it is valid for life unless you regenerate it. Pulsar stores the key encrypted in AES-256 in the database.
How many sites per account?
Bing WMT allows up to 100 sites per Microsoft account. Pulsar: one site per project.
